Hi, My name is Connie and I’m a chocoholic.
You may formerly know me as the Cookie Monster via a blog that I used to author many many years ago.
I love the great outdoors, photography, design, travelling, running (no hills please), yoga and 80s rock
I fear spiders, the dark, heights and the extinction of cacao
I get annoyed by apathy, inconsiderateness, ignorance and slow drivers (get out of my friggin’ lane!)
I value kindness, compassion, integrity and doing things that make me happy
I’ve lived in Vancouver, BC my entire life and can’t imagine being anywhere that isn’t along a coast. By education, I am defined as a Registered Dietitian. By hobby, I am defined as a baker and dessert caterer. My life is a giant oxymoron and I wouldn’t have it any other way!
My inspiration to create and bake in my own kitchen is drawn upon the flavours of the world from my travelling experiences. In February 2014, I went on my first international volunteering trip to Guatemala. Ever since then I’ve fallen in love with travelling and now suffer from a very bad case of wanderlust. I backpacked 4 countries in SE Asia during the summer of 2015. Then I visited Peru, hiked to Machu Picchu and checked off the first “Wonders of the World” that I would see in my life. My bucketlist continues to grow as I try to keep up with it. When I’m working and feeling “trapped” in Vancouver, I feed my wanderlust by going on camping trips in BC’s backcountry.
When I’m not working or catering (so, like, 1 day out of 60), I like to ride my dutch bike along the seawall or walk along Main st and Commercial drive to peruse the independent shops. Something about it just makes my soul soar. I think it’s because I love living in a community where budding talent, no matter how small or simple, is fostered and celebrated.
Thanks for dropping by this little virtual space of mine. When I first started blogging, I didn’t think anyone except my best friend would read this (Haiiii Brenna). Fast forward to 7 years later today: my best friend still reads my blog along with all of you from around the world.
