Bakery Date With Brenna

Belated Happy St. Patricks Day! I told myself I had to finish some homework before I could blog πŸ™

Anyone else finding it hard to focus on school now that the sun is out til like 7pm?

This morning, I hung out with my favourite Irish person, Elephant! (She is a human, not an elephant ahah) We were scheduled to meet at 11:33, but as per usual, I was late.

When I walked into her house, she pinched me. It wasn’t because I was late, but because I forgot to wear green! *slaps forehead*

Then I tried to pinch her back for her lack of green as well but she insisted that her shirt is “green”. To me, it was more of a gray-olive colour πŸ˜›

I had lunch right before heading out for donuts, but the thought of sugar and deep-fried-artery-clogging-goodness made me hungrier and hungrier. And it didn’t help that the bus ride took forever! (Ok, it was only 15 minutes long. I have no patience when it comes to food and must be fed asap)

When we got off the bus, we had to through the sketchiest area in town to get to the store. Thank goodness I had Elephant as my bodyguard!

After a long walk that consisted of crossing the street from the bus stop, we were finally there!!Β It was the first time for both of us being at Cartems, but Elephant did lotsa research and assured me that this place sells the best donuts in town.

Look at all the pretty donuts!!

This one caught my eye. Bacon on donuts?! Who woudda thunk it?

For St.Patricks Day, they had two specials: Baileys Irish Cream and Guinness. In all the excitment, I forgot to take pics of the Guinness one. I apologize to all the beer lovers out there.

I’m normally not a fan of drinking alcohol, the only time I like it is when it’s incorporated into my food. I quickly chose the Baileys and Carrot Cake flavours. Elephant chose earl grey for herself and both the booze donuts for her parents.

When the cashier handed me the donuts, all I wanted to do was rip the bag open and bite into one immediately!! But I didn’t want to look like a pig so I waited.

This is completely random: Do I look like a messy eater? The counter person gave me 3 napkins and only 1 to Elephant. I know I AM a messy eater, but I didn’t know I LOOKED like one ahaha.

I wanted a picture with Elephant and our donuts, but I also wanted to eat, so this happened:

Needless to say, I was very impressed by these donuts. Since they weren’t made with yeast, they had a cakier texture. But I ain’t complainin’ πŸ™‚ I REALLY liked the baileys irish cream donut, IT WAS SO GOOD. The base tasted a lot like vanilla, but there was a hint of baileys in it. The icing was the best part! It had an undertone of baileys, wasn’t overly sweet and added a slight crisp to the donut.

i have made donuts before but never with a mould/donut pan. If you go under the recipes tab you will find my boston cream donuts post πŸ™‚
personally though, i prefer donut pans just because they make everything so uniform and neat
