About these white chocolate cake doughnuts
These doughnuts are something else. They have the ability to convert the toughest yeasted-doughnut advocate. Cake doughnuts have a bad rep for being dense and dry and I don’t blame you for losing complete faith in them.
I mean, how many times do we have to get deceived by the thick layer of glaze on the old fashioned Timbit before we realize that it hides nothing but a crumbly dough ball?

But these, you guys, THESE cake doughnuts will restore your faith in all cake doughnuts! They are fluffy and light and packed with a huge kick of vanilla flavour that is usually muted or disgustingly artificial. Instead of a regular icing sugar and milk glaze, I used a white chocolate glaze which goes on much thicker to get that closer ratio of glaze:doughnut. Plus, it’s the perfect vehicle for SPRINKLES.

I made these for a client who wanted to bring doughnuts for her son’s last day of school and they were a huge hit with the kiddos! Apologies about the poor photos, I did not intend for these white chocolate vanilla cake doughnuts to become a recipe post so these were only taken with my cell phone.

Video Tutorial – Watch on YouTube
If you’re more of a visual learner, I made a video for this recipe which is now posted on my Youtube channel.
My friend, Henry, dropped by randomly while I was baking and he was like, “We should film this”. And I said, “We should”.
So while I did my thing and baked, he set up cameras around me filmed! It only took us about 45 minutes to get all the footage of these white chocolate vanilla cake doughnuts. But then it took us 8 months to roll out the video. Here it is finally!

Nice! They look marvelous! and I liked your video too! I love making videos…so much fun!
Does the white chocolate icing stay pretty solid overnight? Or does it weep like a regular glaze? I’ve been struggling with weepy icing so stopped using plain glaze. I tried candy melts but it was too thick and goopy (but tasted good); tried plain glaze which looked amazing but was weeping the 2nd day.
Hey you! The white chocolate stayed BEAUTIFUL and solid overnight. The next day the donuts still tasted FRESH because the coating was so thick and sturdy. No weeping problems at all because of the chocolate chemical structure. The only thing is make sure that the chocolate was tempered before adding it to the glaze 🙂
These donuts are absolutely FLAWLESS!
I know right?! I was incredibly surprised by how it turned out. I give all credit to the chocolate in the glaze (chemical structure of the chocolate makes it sturdy) and the sprinkles 😀
